Joseph Samuel Trane passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Northgate Hospice. Born on April 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Samuel Trane and Sophie Josephine (Wozniak) Struski.
A life-long resident of Niagara Falls, Joe was a retiree of Unifrax where he worked tirelessly for more than 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, receiving an honorable discharge in service to his country.
Above all, Joe was a dedicated father to his three children, with a special bond to his beloved granddaughter Ariel. He was an avid tennis and football fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be fondly remembered as an easy-going, compassionate man of few words but a big heart. His greatest gift was his humility, generosity and endearing character. Regarded as "a good guy" by all who met him, his calm spirit was a testament to a life well lived.
He is survived by his devoted children; Linda (Daniel) Burden, Karen (Michelle) Trane, Raymond (Chris) Trane, and granddaughter, Ariel Burden. In addition, he is survived by his loving sister, Barbara Wojtowicz and several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his brother, Frank Trane and his niece, Catherine Wojtowicz.
Friends may call Tuesday, April 3rd from 4-7PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319-24th Street, cor of Welch Ave, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian burial with Military Honors will be officiated by Rev. Robert Hughson on Wednesday, April 4th at 9:00 AM at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 Military Road, Niagara Falls. Please assemble at the church. In gratitude of the exceptional care provided to him in his final days, the family would greatly appreciate donations to Niagara Hospice.
