Obituary of Maxwell Martinez

On August 27th, 2021, Maxwell F “Maxie” Martinez, 77, of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Born February 18, 1944, and raised in Niagara Falls, son of late Florentino and Glenora (Garlow) Martinez. He attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School in 1962. Max retired from Occidental Chemical as a supervisor after 39 years in 2000. He married Elaine (Hilts) Martinez, June 20, 1964, predeceased him on August 21, 1972. Married Joyce Martinez predeceased him in 2005. Max was always active in local sports, accomplishments which include past president and current member of the board of directors of the NF bowling association, member of the Hyde Park Golf Club board of directors, manager of Oxy Class A golf team where he led the team to multiple championships, inducted into the NF old timers Hall of Fame in 2004 and inducted into NF Men’s USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2016. He bowled competitively in various leagues for 60 years, bowling a perfect 300 game in 2010. He won various local club tournaments and has 4 holes in one to his credit. He was also a member of the YMCA for over 40 years where he enjoyed swimming and racquetball. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 9 grandchildren, whom he would travel to every game to support them in their chosen sports. Survived by Nancy Martinez. Also survived by his loving soul mate and Sweet Pea, Joann Stein. Survived by Daughters, Kimberly (Troy) Bielec, Kelly Alcorn and Tracy Martinez. Stepdaughters Dawn Harvey and Kristen LaGamba. Grandchildren Cody, Tyler and Stephanie Bielec, Cyle and Ciara Alcorn and Danielle Martinez. Step grandchildren Zachary LaGamba, Evan and Megan Harvey. Great Grandchildren, Olivia and Peyton Pincheon and several nieces and nephews. Survived by sister Nancy Stephenson, Predeceased by siblings Elizabeth Culhane, Beverly Parker, and Richard Martinez. The visitation will be held on Tuesday August 31st, 1-4pm and 6-8pm at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC. A burial service will be held Wednesday September 1st 11am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CEMETERY. In lieu of flowers please donate to Roswell Park Medical Center.
