John W. ''Chief'' Gansworth Jr., 84, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Newfane Rehabilitation & Health Center. Born in Lewiston, NY on May 19, 1937 he was the son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Johnson) Gansworth Sr. Chief worked for the Iron Worker's Local #9 until his retirement. Avid Buffalo Sabres and Auto racing fan, who loved spending time with his family. He never said "No" to babysitting and was always quick with a joke.
He is survived by his children, Mitchell (Lori) Gansworth, Gregory "Gus" (Michele) Gansworth, John "Fred" (Rachel) Gansworth, Rita (Isaac) Brascoupe and Loretta (Paul) Prater; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; niece, Cory Stevens and nephew, Jamie Stevens. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Louise (Mt. Pleasant) Gansworth; brother, Wayne Gansworth and sister, Darcy (Richard) Stevens, and his long time partner Sharon Nowak.
Per Chief's wishes, Private services and burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Lewiston, NY, will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in John's memory can be made to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC.
