Obituary of Jerald Graff

Jerald P. Graff, 85, died unexpectedly on August 7, 2017. He was born on January 26, 1932 to Carl Graff and Stella (Mojeski) Kolano. Jerry lived his childhood on Cudaback Avenue and attended local schools. He attended Niagara Falls High School, and was a student athlete who excelled as a member of the varsity swim team. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Korean War, on the USS Coral Sea, as an airman from 1949-1953. He was employed by EI DuPont for 35 years, and retired in 1989.

He played in the Industrial Basketball, Bowling, and Golf leagues, and was awarded Athlete of the Year 1963. In 2013, Jerry's biggest dream came true. He bowled his first 300 game in the retired men's league at Rapids Bowling Center, at 81 years old. Jerry also played softball in several city leagues, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

On June 19, 1954, he married Patricia A. Pendzy, who predeceased him on December 8, 1986. Together, they had three children, Kim (Peter) Heitz, Julianne (John) Kowalczyk, and Mark (Susan) Graff; ten grandchildren, Dana (Jason) Bucelato, Chress Tweed, Joseph (Dezeree) Conti, William Conti, Jason Graff, Patricia (Kyle) O'Hara, Randy (Jennifer) English, Stefanie (Ryan) Babi, Nicole Graff (Mike), Angela Graff (Scott). Also ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by stepfather, Casey Kolano; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Julian and Evelynn Pendzy. In addition, he was survived by his Aunt Adeline Majeski, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his life-long friend, Paul Julian. In 1988, he married Janice Stone, who predeceased him in June of 2001. He was the stepfather to her children, Lori (Mark) Calvello, Kenneth (Dana) Zuber; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his loving companion of 14 years, Shirley Wieczorek; her son, Aaron (Dana) Wieczorek; and granddaughter, Erica.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 1-5 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC., 319-24th St., Niagara Falls, NY 14303. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
