Obituary of Marcella Vangilder

Marcella F. VanGilder, 71, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 17, 1946, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Randock) Szarszewski. She worked at a pet store, Nabisco, Emerson, Taylor Devices, Retired from Eastman Kodak after 15 years of service in Rochester, NY.

Marcy loved life and always tried to live it to its fullest. A caring, friendly, strong-willed woman who loved her family and traditions (Polish) more than anything. She loved people, getting to know them and chatting about life. Food, cooking, and baking meant everything to her and was proud to share recipes with everyone she met. She used to love making her bracelets, gift baskets and doing nice things for people "just because"...

Playing the lotto for years got boring when the casino opened up so you could find her there playing her favorite slot machines. She still took time to do lotto as well as scratch-offs from time to time too. She loved crossword puzzles, Scrabble, playing few games online, listening to music, watching movies – Tv shows, nature, animals, chatting with people, learning new things, traveling, working, shopping, dancing, singing and spending time with her family and friends. Always talking about “the good ole’ days” …
She’s going to be cherished, loved and missed sorely but she is not suffering anymore. May God continue to bless her and all of us, especially during these difficult times.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell VanGilder; children, Jennifer VanGilder, Daniel VanGilder and Gabriel VanGilder; sisters, Bernice (late Alan) Smith, Rose (James) Robinson and Carol (Walter) Royer. Sister in laws Jackie (VanGilder) (late Gene) Clinton; Robin (Goodwin) George MacKenzie; Bonnie Cook also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins; two grandchildren Justin and Aurelia.
