Obituary of Orlando Achilli

Orlando C. ''Papa'' Achilli, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Niagara Hospice House. Born in Niagara Falls on August 10, 1938 he was the son of the late Umberto and Mary (Magno) Achilli and attended local schools.

Orlando entered the United States Marine Corp on February 12, 1958 where he was a radio relay operator. For his service he received the Good Conduct Medal (1st award) and was honorably discharged as a LCpl on February 11, 1962.

He was a Lifetime member of the Marine Corp League and was very active in the neighborhood block clubs in Niagara Falls. He also worked for Koban's Food & Drink, which he enjoyed very much and earned the nickname Papa.

He is survived by his wife Gwen L. (Ticknor) Achilli; sons, Mark Boyd and Jay Boyd; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Oscar Achilli and sister, Olga Lauzau.

Friends may call Friday, August 24th from 4-7 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, cor of Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services with military honors will begin at 6:30 PM with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
