Obituary of Helen D. Grochala
Helen D. Grochala, 95, lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on May 26, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Wanda (Sobczak) Grzelak. Helen began working for the Niagara Falls Board of Education as a Special Education aide in 1964. She worked for the board for 28 years, retiring in 1992. She was a former Brownie & Girl Scout leader, the cookie chairman and day camp leader. Helen was also a lifelong member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, now Divine Mercy Parish. She is survived by two daughters: Paula (late John) Zacher and Melanie S. Villar; grandchildren, John (Carole) Zacher, David Zacher, Kevin Zacher, James T. Grochala Jr., Derek Grochala, Amy Villar, Che' Villar and Heather Noworyta; great-grandchildren, Gregory (Leeann) Parker, Ryan and Ashley Zacher, Lauren (Greg)Howe, Tyler and Elizabeth Hallen and great-great grandchildren, Miguel and Grayson Parker. She is also survived by several nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Chester W. Grochala, sons, James T. Grochala Sr. and Tim A. Grochala; great granddaughters Kirsten Zacher and Halle Zacher; sisters, Loretta (Steven) Korszoloski, Dolores Grzelak, and Geraldine "Gerry" Grzelak. Per Helen's Wishes, there is NO PRIOR visitation and a Private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
