Obituary of Katie F. Pratt

Katie Francis (Kudela) Pratt entered into rest unexpectedly on November 11th, 2020 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was 34 years old. Katie was born on April 18th, 1986 in Niagara Falls, NY, to the late Richard Sr. and Jean (Cook) Kudela. Katie attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 2004. Upon graduating, she attended Canisius College in Buffalo, NY where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in English, with a minor in Sociology. Katie was a life-long learner and enjoyed reading books on many topics. She was also an avid writer and was known as the family proofreader and editor. Katie was employed by the City of Niagara Falls Police Department as the Confidential Secretary to the Superintendent of Police. Prior to taking on that position, she helped to shape the newly created Niagara Intelligence and Crime Analysis Center as a Call-In Coordinator, then as a Crime Analyst. Katie was a trusted and valued member of the department. Prior to the department, Katie spent time working at the New York State Parks, Famous Footwear and AmeriCorps Buffalo. Katie was a kind, gentle soul; the salt of the earth. She was a life-long animal lover and she fostered and gave shelter to countless furry friends throughout her years. Katie never met a cat she did not love. She also loved art, music, and any form of artistic expression. Katie was a proud vegan and had a talent for cooking vegan dishes and desserts. Later in life, Katie took on the role of family historian and she spent a lot of time on family genealogy and lineage. The family tree was especially important to her. Katie is survived and forever loved by her husband, Terence Pratt; daughter Zoe Juniper; mother Jean Kudela; siblings Richard Jr. (Jessica), and Paul (Danielle); niece Evangeline; and nephews Liam and Ryan. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Katie will be dearly missed by others she considered family, especially Jeanna (Currie) Mueller, Alesha Lymburner and Farzad Jalil. She was predeceased by her father, Richard Kudela Sr. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on a date to be determined.
